Villa Mirador de Mayabe, Alturas de Mayabe, Holguin
A suitable holiday motel with a real cuban ambience on Loma de Mayabe

History

The Villa Mirador de Mayabe Motel, located in the outskirts of Holguin City in the Oriente of Cuba, was founded in January of 1972

Before the construction of the admirable Villa Mirador de Mayabe Motel, this one was hardly a country house, from where today you can watch Holguin city in the distance and, more close, the picturesque Valley of Mayabe, where an American gentleman lived, who is related with the tradition.

Mister Towns, like the people used to call to the northerner, had been born in 1857 in the state of Georgia and he arrived to these places at the beginning of the XX century. The laborious farmer ended up being very well-known for his successful cultivations of citric, fruits and flowers, but much more for the breeding of animals, among these, the pedigrees horses and the donkeys.

The history tells that with one of his donkeys, mister Towns made a lot of money, since one of these drank 36 beers in a party in Mayabe.

Nigel Alexander Hunt

Welcome to my site dedicated to the Villa Mirador de Mayabe. I am "poco a poco" researching and updating it with the aim to provide as complete as possible record of the hotel's ancient and recent history; bearing in mind that the goings-on today may one day be of historical interest.

My site is NOT the official website of the current hotel operator, and is by no means endorsed by them; but I am grateful for their help with the research.

You can make from this site room reservations through the Bizloco eTravel System operated by Cubaism Ltd.

Best wishes for 2024
